Here are the top questions I’m asked about my blog!
If you have questions that are just burning at the bit, just ASK!
There’s a LOT that goes into coming up with what I do and post. The factors that prevail are what interests ME, what I think will benefit YOU, what has favorable interest from the rest of the world. I keep my eyes and ears open for trends, shop frequently to see what’s gaining popularity and then try A LOT of different projects. The projects that work out and bring joy to me, and I think will do the same for YOU are what become a post.
Yes, it’s true! I, like most bloggers, work about 2-3 months ahead of when most people are interested in a particular season or holiday. The reason is that we know you need time to get supplies, find time in your schedule, and complete the project
No, not yet. As the blog builds there will come the time that brands and companies SPONSOR posts. Sponsored posts come in all shapes and sizes. Some offer free products, others pay the blogger as well as providing products. When posts are sponsored, they are clearly identified so you know!
There are several revenue streams for bloggers. These AREN’T available to all of us. The opportunities build and layer as readership and the following of the blogger increases. (Yes, it means A LOT to us when you refer people to our blog and social media accounts.)
Affiliate Links: These are the links you click on a blog that takes you to another site to purchase a product. Each product you purchase provides a small commission to the blogger at no cost to you.
Advertising Revenue: The ads you see in the posts provide a small commission when you click on them that are paid to the blogger.
Sponsored Posts: When a company feels the blogger’s following and viewers align with their market, they will collaborate with a blogger. The payment is in the product, payment, or both.
Direct Advertising: Some blogs work directly with businesses and “rent out” space on their blog for the company to place an advertisement.
Special Events: Many bloggers LOVE to get out and speak with both their followers and those who may become followers. As the influence of a blogger increases, the blogger will require payment for their services as a host or speaker. Bloggers in the growth stage may be willing to offer themselves solely for the opportunity to expand their reach.
Courses and Training: When enough questions are asked on a topic, a blogger will realize that they have an opportunity to charge for their knowledge and answers. The cost varies greatly, it’s not uncommon to see an ebook for $4.99 and to see a course for $2,000. It’s all based on the influence and knowledge of the blogger.
Product Lines: I can’t think of a blogger I know who wouldn’t JUMP at the chance to have their own line of products. When a blogger gets BIG, they may be in the position to create a line of clothing, furniture, or accessories under their own label!
(If you’re wondering, at this time, I’m doing 1 and 2 as I work on getting opportunities for 3!)
I’m happy to collaborate, yet at this time I’m not actively working with any other bloggers on guest posts. If you have an idea, however, let me know and I’ll consider it!
Under the right circumstances, absolutely! I love doing post collaborations. Let me know what you have in mind!
Not really, I still do the occasional piece as it fits into my schedule but honestly, it takes a LONG time for me to fit in a custom order. Often a 6-month wait is required for a custom project. I don’t mind being asked, however, so if you want something made you might just fit right into my schedule and get it sooner!
No, not right now. For the time being I’m instructing at Mirbeau in Skaneateles, NY.
